Kennywood Starts Dropping Clues On Major Mystery Ride

The amusement park confirmed Thursday that the ride will open in 2019.

PITTSBURGH, PA - Kennywood has acknowledged the obvious: its next major attraction is under construction. Now the West Mifflin amusement park wants you to guess what the ride will be.

Kennywood stated on Facebook that it will begin a bingo-like game that will offer clues that could lead to solving the mystery of the attraction, which is being dubbed Project 412. Every Thursday, a number on the Project 412 will be scratched off on the card.

What likely will irk Kennywood fans eager to know what’s coming to the park in 2019 is that there is no guarantee that question will be answered when all of the numbers are exposed. “Once very number is revealed, well, then the REAL fun will begin,” the Facebook post states.

Kennywood also says some clues might actually be found around the park, some of which already have been spotted. Footers have been placed in the park lagoon, presumably for the new attraction, and markers and painted numbers seemingly indicate where more footers will be placed.

There is strong sentiment that the new attraction will be a mega-sized coaster that will utilize the lagoon, the space formerly occupied by the Log Jammer water ride that was retired last year, and possibly some of the property located behind that space and the Racer that currently is used for storage.
