Kennywood's Phantom Fright Nights Returning For 17th Season
Plenty of scares are in store at the West Mifflin amusement park beginning this weekend.

PITTSBURGH, PA - It’s time once again for Kennywood to be overrun with ghouls and ghosts. The nationally renowned Phantom Fright Nights, recently recognized by Amusement Today as one of the nation’s best Halloween attractions, returns this weekend for a 17th season at the West Mifflin amusement park.
The haunting begins Sept. 28 and continues on Fridays, Saturdays and some Sundays until Oct. 28.
“Our team of more than 250 makeup artists, costume designers and scare actors give their all every fall to make Phantom Fright Nights the highlight of Pittsburgh’s Halloween season,” Marie Ruby, Phantom Fright Nights creative director, said in a statement. “When coupled with our roller coasters and other one-of-a-kind rides, PFN provides a total package of thrills that has few rivals.”
New this year is the Welcoming Committee, a group of gruesome ghouls that will pop up at the park entrance tunnel lurking around to scare unsuspecting guests as they make their way toward the park’s 10 haunted areas.
Tickets to Phantom Fright Nights are $33.99 at the park entrance, with discounts available through www.kennywood.com/pfn and by picking up coupons at local Spirit Halloween locations. College students and select Kennywood Season passholders get in for half-price on the first (Sept. 28-29) and last (Oct. 26-28) weekends of Phantom Fright Nights, along with Sunday, October 7. Students and pssholders must have valid ID to receive the discount.
