Kennywood's Spinvasion Thrill Ride Takes Flight
Kennywood's latest attraction takes riders on an exciting intergalactic adventure.
WEST MIFFLIN, PA — It twists and turns as it flies riders through the air. Just watching it in motion can provoke stomach-churning vertigo.
Spinvasion, Kennywood's long-awaited new thrill ride, debuts Friday. Described an an intergalactic multi-action spin ride, it anchors the all-new alien-themed Area 412 that includes a revamped Cosmic Chaos ride and an enhanced gift shop.
"Spinvasion is a unique single-rider experience that reaches speeds of up to 30 mph," Kennywood spokesperson Tasha Pokrzya said Thursday at a media preview event. "We’ve really amplified the center of the park and we’re very excited about the grand opening."

What can riders expect?
You strap into your solo manned aircraft and prepare for a classic swing experience after takeoff. You soon crisscross with other pilots, and riding sideways at certain points parallel to the ground.

As riders fly by, they go past a large, handpainted purple and pink mural depicting the "Battle for The Burg." It depicts aliens in flying saucers heading toward Pittsburgh.
The experience is enhanced by a colorful light display.
Nearby in Area 412, Cosmic Chaos has an eye-catching neon green new color. The renovated "Gift Ship" offers Spinvasion T-shirts, items commemorating the park's 125th anniversary and space-themed stuffed animals.
