Multiple Pileups On Pittsburgh Highway Prove Deadly
Several crashes on a Pittsburgh interstate Friday resulted in at least one fatality. Get the details here.
PITTSBURGH, PA — Several pileups involving at least 18 vehicles on Interstate 79 in Butler County left at least one person dead on Friday.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, the crashes occurred in the northbound lanes of I-79 Interstate 79 between the Evans City exit and the US 19/68 - Zelienople exit. The incidents occurred during a snowstorm whose effects likely contributed to the wrecks.
Both the north and southbound lanes of I-79 in that area were closed for several hours, police said. Both lanes reopened at around 4 p.m.

The name of the person killed in one of the wrecks was not immediately released. It was unclear how many people were injured in the crashes.
