Legendary Pirates Player Signs With New Team

PITTSBURGH, PA — One of the all-time Pirates greats has reached a deal to play with another team this season.
Former National League Most Valuable Player Andrew McCutchen has agreed to a minor league contract with the Texas Rangers, according to multiple reports.
McCutchen has played the last three seasons for the Pirates and initially was on the team for the first nine years of his career after making his Major League debut in 2009.

After being traded to the San Francisco Giants in 2018, McCutchen also played for the New York Yankees, Philadelphia Phillies and Milwaukee Brewers before returning to the Pirates in 2023.
Being almost exclusively used as a designated hitter last season, McCutchen, 39, played in 135 games, had a .239 batting average, hit 13 home runs and had 57 RBIs.
