Legendary Pittsburgh Pirates Player And Former All-Star Dies
This Pirates player made the All-Star team three times while with the Bucs.
PITTSBURGH, PA — Frank Thomas, a three-time All-Star with the Pittsburgh Pirates, has died. The Pirates confirmed his death via social media.
Thomas, 93, a Pittsburgh native and resident, died Monday morning.

Thomas played 16 seasons in the major leagues from 1951 through 1966. He was with the Pirates for his first eight seasons, and also played for the Cincinnati Reds, Chicago Cubs, Milwaukee Braves and New York Mets.

An outfielder and third baseman, Thomas was named a National League All-Star in 1954, 1955 and 1958.
His career batting average was .266 with 286 home runs and 962 RBIs.
