Long-Term Route 19 Traffic Crossover Coming

Find out here where and when the crossover will occur.

PITTSBURGH, PA - A major traffic change will occur Friday on Route 19-Saw Mill Run Boulevard in Duquesne Heights, when PennDOT implements a long-term crossover pattern that will be in effect through late June.

Northbound traffic will be crossed over into the southbound lanes just north of the Shaler Street bridge. A single 11-foot lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction of Saw Mill Run in the southbound lanes.

The work is part of a $14.5 million improvement project that also includes the replacement of the Shaler Street Bridge over Route 19-51 with accelerated bridge construction techniques, median
barrier replacement, lengthening of the Wabash Street deceleration ramp, sign structure replacements and ramp reconstruction work.

Before the crossover occurs, crews will put up barriers and will repaint lane lines, so PennDOT advises motorists use caution through the work zone.
