Longtime WDVE DJ Sean McDowell To Retire
McDowell soon will end a four-decade career in Pittsburgh broadcasting.

PITTSBURGH, PA - Legendary WDVE-FM disc jockey Sean McDowell, a staple in the Pittsburgh radio scene since the 1970s, announced his retirement Tuesday. His last day on the air will be July 31, according to a post on the station's Facebook page.
McDowell, 63, has spent four decades in radio in southwestern Pennsylvania and has hosted the WDVE afternoon show since 1993. He started his career at the former WYDD-FM in New Kensington in 1978 before moving to WTYK-FM in Washington and then to WRRK-FM, where he
spent 13 years before joining DVE.
McDowell was off the air for an extended period last year following surgery to repair a leaking mitral valve

In 2016, McDowell was inducted as a member of the Pittsburgh Rock ‘N Roll Legends, Pittsburgh’s version of the Rock ‘N Roll Hall of Fame.
McDowell comes from a broadcasting family. His father, the late Al McDowell, was a longtime WTAE-TV personality.
