Lynyrd Skynyrd To Bring Farewell Tour To Pittsburgh

The legendary southern rockers haven't performed here in four years.

PITTSBURGH PA - Legendary southern rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd will launch a farewell tour this spring, and the Rock & Roll Hall of Famers will make a final Pittsburgh appearance at KeyBank Pavilion on Aug. 25.

The band also announced that the Last of the Street Survivors Farewell tour will feature other superstar artists such as Kid Rock, Hank Williams Jr., Bad Company, the Marshall Tucker Band and .38 Special.

Known for hits such as “Free Bird,” “Call Me the Breeze,” “What’s Your Name,” and “Sweet Home Alabama,” Skynyrd’s career spans more than 40 years and has been touched by tragedy. In 1977, a plane crash killed lead singer Ronnie Van Zant, guitarist Steve Gaines, backup singer Cassie Gaines and several members of the road crew. The lineup now is led by Johnny Van Zant, Ronnie’s brother.
