Lane restrictions will be in place on a major Pittsburgh highway this weekend. Get the details here.
CHURCHILL, PA — Expect major traffic headaches this weekend on the Parkway East, which will have lane restrictions in place in Churchill, Wilkins, Penn Hills and Monroeville.
The parkway will be reduced to a single lane of traffic in each direction between the Monroeville-Business Route 22 (Exit 80) exit and the bridge over Old William Penn Highway from 9 p.m. Friday night through 5 a.m. Monday morning.
The restrictions will allow crews to conduct latex placement and other concrete replacement work.

The work is part of the $70.1 million Parkway East Betterment Project, which includes a superstructure replacement over Old William Penn Highway; two bridge rehabilitations over Old William Penn Highway-Lougay Road-Sunset Drive and Thompson Run Road-Thompson Run/Union Railroad; and preservation work on six other parkway bridges.
Throughout the project, motorists can expect long-term single-lane restrictions, several weekends with traffic down to a single lane, and a long-term crossover in 2025. The improvements on the 4.5 miles of the parkway between the Churchill (Exit 79B) and Monroeville
48 (Exit 84A) exit won't be completed until fall 2026.
