Major Pittsburgh Stadium Renovation Proposed
A state grant is being sought to help fund a significant expansion plan for a Pittsburgh sports stadium renovation.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Highmark Stadium, the home of the Pittsburgh Riverhounds soccer team, could triple its current seating capacity from 5,500 to 15,000.
Shallenberger Properties, owned by Riverhounds owner Tuffy Shallenberger, is requesting a $10 million state grant to help expand the stadium, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported. The project could total as much as $75 million.
"With the growing popularity of soccer in the United States, the increased seating capacity and upgraded amenities are poised to attract larger domestic and international audiences, contributing to the city's cultural vibrancy and tapping into a thriving market," the grant application stated.
