PITTSBURGH, PA — A major residential-retail development is planned for West General Street between Federal Street and Mazeroski Way on the North Shore across the street from PNC Park. The site currently is a parking lot.
The Pittsburgh Planning Commission on Tuesday will be briefed on the latest plans to construct a 12-story building that will have 305 apartments, 117 parking spaces, bike storage and 1,965 square feet of retail space.
Also expected in the development is a Pirates-theme entertainment plaza.

"By using strategically positioned balconies (both full-size and juliette), changes in materials
(multiple masonry colors and metal panel), minimum 2-foot projections, indentations and stepbacks (all of which occur no more than every 50 feet) across each facade, the design intends to deliver a highly articulated building that appropriately and positively contributes to the neighborhood context and aesthetic," presentation documents reviewed by Patch stated.
The cost of the project was not included in the documents.
