Man Dies After Walking Into Pittsburgh River

Divers discovered a man's body Sunday after reports that he had walked into a Pittsburgh river. Get the details here.

PITTSBURGH, PA — A man died Sunday after walking into the Allegheny River from the 9th Street/Rachel Carson Bridge.

Pittsburgh Public Safety officials said the man was observed going into the water at about 2:30 p.m. Two river rescue boats responded, along with three divers. The divers made a total of four dives before the man's body was recovered.

He was pronounced dead by medics at 3:50 p.m.

The victim’s identity, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be determined by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's office.
