Man, Dog Die In Pittsburgh-Area Shooting

A man died Monday in a Pittsburgh-area shooting. A canine also was shot to death in the exchange of gunfire by two men.

McKEES ROCKS, PA — A man died Monday in an afternoon shooting, and a dog also suffered fatal wounds.

Shortly after 5 p.m., police were summoned to the shooting site at 3rd and Bouquet streets. First responders found the 19-year-old victim shot multiple times. He was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The victim's name has not yet been released.

Allegheny County police said that based on evidence at the scene,detectives determined the suspect approached and shot at the victim, who returned fire but was fatally shot.

The suspect, who has not been identified, fled the scene.

During the gunfire exchange, a neighbor's dog was caught in the crossfire and shot. The dog died at a local veterinary hospital.
