Man Pleads Guilty To Killing Pittsburgh High School Student
Marquis Campbell, 15, was shot and killed outside of the Oliver Citywide Academy in January 2022.

PITTSBURGH, PA — In January 2022, 15-year-old Marquis Campbell exited Oliver Citywide Academy in the city's Marshall-Shadeland neighborhood, got into his school van and then was shot twice in the chest.
On Wednesday, one of two suspects initially charged in Campbell's killing pleaded guilty to third-degree murder charges. Eugene Watson, 19, also pleaded guilty to criminal conspiracy to commit third-degree murder and two firearms charges.
Police in April charged Watson, 17 when the shooting occurred, and his brother, Brandon, 16 at the time, with the shooting. Charges against Brandon Watson were dropped over the summer.

Eugene Watson is scheduled to be sentenced in January. He faces a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison.
In May, another Oliver student was shot to death outside of the school.

Jaymier Perry, 15, allegedly killed Derrick Harris, 15, shortly before classes were to begin for the day. Perry has been charged as an adult with criminal homicide, possession of a firearm by a minor and firearms not to be carried without a license.
