PITTSBURGH, PA — Pittsburgh police shot a man who opened fire on them Tuesday as they responded to a domestic dispute call in the city's Garfield section.
Allegheny County police handling the investigation said their city counterparts were dispatched to the 4900 block of Kincaid Street around 11 a.m. for a report of a woman assaulted during a domestic incident.
Upon arriving, police encountered an armed 29-year-old man outside the residence who fired multiple rounds at them. One officer returned fire, striking the man multiple times, according to county police. He was taken to a nearby hospital and is listed in stable condition.

The woman suffered facial injuries during the initial assault.
County police said their findings will be turned over to the district attorney's office for review when their investigation is complete.
