Many Dead Rodents Found In Pittsburgh Restaurant

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department has issued a consumer alert for the Urban Tap on South Highland Avenue in East Liberty after an active infestation of rodents was discovered.

Seven dead rodents were found next to the grease collection tank in a basement area, according to an inspection report filed this week.

The inspection also revealed a chewed bag of walnuts in dry storage area of basement. A chewed bag of cornmeal was discovered in the dry storage area of basement.

Old and new rodent droppings observed throughout the entire restaurant, along floor-wall junctions in the kitchen, on shelving throughout the facility, under all equipment in the bar area and along the floor-wall junction of the party room.

Fruit flies, too numerous to count, were found throughout the bar.
