Marvel Universe, Temptations, Annie Top Pittsburgh Weekend Events

PITTSBURGH, PA - You probably have seen your favorite Marvel Comics characters numerous times while munching on popcorn at your multiplex. This weekend you have the opportunity to see them in action in person at Marvel Universe Live!
In this live-action arena show, you’ll witness the efforts of such Marvel stalwarts as Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, the Hulk, Black Panther, Black Widow and the Guardians of the Galaxy take on perennial Marvel villain Loki. Patch is assuming he’s up to his old tricks of wanting to conquer the universe again.
Marvel Universe Live! will be staged at PPG Paints Arena Oct. 25 and 26 at 7 p.m.; Oct. 27 at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.; and Oct. 28 at 12 p.m. and 4 p.m.

- Alice Cooper, Oct. 26, 7 p.m. Stage AE, North Shore
The master of macabre will headline a special 102.5 WDVE-FM Halloween concert dubbed "A Paranormal Evening With Alice Cooper." Even at age 70, expect an over-the-top performance from Cooper, as well as hits such as "No More Mister Nice Guy," "I'm Eighteen," and, of course, "School's Out." Also expect Cooper's infamous guillotine and giant Frankenstein monster.
Alice Cooper is sold out, but Patch found tickets online for $64.
- The Temptations, Oct. 25, 7:30 p.m. Palace Theater, Greensburg
These legendary Motown marvels recorded such classic hits as “My Girl,” “The Way You Do The Things You Do,” “Just My Imagination,” “Treat Her Like A Lady,” and, of course, “Papa Was A Rolling Stone.”They have had 16 million selling LPs, 14 number one singles, have won three Grammys and are members of the Vocal Group Hall of Fame and Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame. Should be an incredible evening.
The Temptations tickets start at $38.
- Walking Dead Meets Living Dead: Zombies in Pittsburgh, Oct. 26, 6 p.m., Heinz History Center, Strip District.
Think you know zombies? Think again. Join the History Center for a night. of the living dead.
Dive into Pittsburgh’s zombie connections, hear all about the Smithsonian’s work to collect zombie history, meet icons of the local zombie film tradition, grab a zombie cocktail, and walk away with a (fake) zombie bite.
Smithsonian curator Eric Jentsch will discuss zombies in pop culture, including the National Museum of American History’s recent work with AMC’s The Walking Dead. That’s not all. Cast and crew members who worked with legendary Pittsburgh director George Romero on his iconic film, “Night of the Living Dead” also will be on hand.
Walking Dead Meets Living Dead is included with a $14 general admission to the history center.
- Annie, Oct. 25-27, 7:30 p.m., Oct. 28, 2 p.m., Byham Theater, Downtown
Leapin’ lizards! The irrepressible comic strip heroine takes center stage in one of the world’s best-loved musicals. Follow Annie and her cheery spark of positivity through New York City as she searches for her parents on this fun-filled adventure of friendship.
Annie is a special presentation by the students of the Richard E. Rauh Conservatory, backed by the talented Pittsburgh CAPA Orchestra, and fully produced by the professional artists of Pittsburgh Musical Theater.
Annie tickets start at $9.75.
