Measles Vaccination Numbers Soar In PA: See Latest Info Here

PENNSYLVANIA — Over the first three weeks of September, health care providers in the state have provided more than 38,000 measles vaccinations to people - about 13,000 more that usually is administered in an entire month.

In its latest update on the measles outbreak across the state issued on Wednesday, Pennsylvania Department of Health officials stated that's part of a surge of people recently seeking measles vaccinations.

In a typical month, Pennsylvania health care providers administer approximately 25,000 doses of the vaccine. In August, more than 49,000 vaccines were provided across the state.

As of Wednesday, 835 measles cases have been confirmed in 39 of the state's 67 counties thus far this year. The state has reported four measles-related deaths from the outbreak.

Other measles statistics that were released by the health department:

• New positive cases since September 21: 43

• Total measles hospitalizations: 164
• Measles cases among vaccinated people: 4 (less than 1 of cases).

State health officials have administered nearly 5,200 vaccinations at 156 pop-up vaccination clinics in the affected communities since the outbreak began in late April. Dozens of additional vaccine clinics are scheduled for the upcoming weeks and months based on community interest and need.

Overall, state health center staff have administered more than 7,700 vaccine doses to state residents across the in 2026.
