Meteor Streaks Over Pittsburgh Sky
People in Western Pennsylvania and in multiple states were treated to a spectacular sight Thursday evening.
PITTSBURGH, PA —Hundreds of area residents reported seeing a rare and dazzling astronomical sight Thursday evening as a meteor raced across the sky. The incident occurred around 7:33 p.m.
The event was captured by a National Weather Service forecaster:

The American Meteor Societyreceived nearly 700 reports on the fireball. In addition to Pennsylvania, the meteor was seen over Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina, New York, Ohio, Ontario, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.
