MLK Day 2022: What's Open, Closed Around Pittsburgh
Although Martin Luther King Day is a federal holiday, not everything in Pittsburgh will be closed.
PITTSBURGH, PA - Martin Luther King, Jr. Day will be celebrated on Jan. 17th, marking the 36th year of observance of the federal holiday honoring the slain civil rights leader. While some in the region might have to work, most schools and government offices will take a break .
Here's what you can expect to find open and closed in southwestern Pennsylvania on Martin Luther King Jr. Day:
- Schools: Varies by district.
- Government: All city of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, state and federal offices and state and federal courts are closed.
- Banks: Most are closed.
- State liquor stores: Open.
- U.S. Postal Service: Post offices will be closed and there will be no mail delivery.
- Port Authority of Allegheny County: Bus, light-rail and incline service will operate on their respective regular weekday schedules.
- Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh: All branches closed.
