And yes, there is a zombie component to the festivities at the mall where "Dawn of the Dead" was filmed.

PITTSBURGH, PA - Hard to believe it’s been a half-century, but Monroeville Mall turns 50 this year - and the mall wants you to be involved in celebrating its golden anniversary.

The mall is soliciting your historical photos, newspaper articles, or other mementos that could be featured on a “50 Years of Memories” mural. Applicants will also be entered for a chance to win one of three $100 gift cards and one lucky entry will receive 2 VIP Access Passes to the 2019 Living Dead Weekend (of course most everyone knows the George Romero zombie classic “Dawn of the Dead” was filmed largely in the mall).

The memories mural will be unveiled on May 13. The 50th anniversary celebration occurs May 18 and will include princess and character visits, face painting, the musical stylings of DJ Zombo, cookie sales for charity, and a vendor show.

Here’s how to enter the 50 Years of Memories Sweepstakes entry form.
