Mt. Washington Woman Dies During Childbirth

PITTSBURGH, PA - A GoFundMe page has been established to aid the husband and infant son of a Mt. Washington woman who died while giving birth on May 26. April Sheatz Martinez died from complications after giving birth to her son Luca.

The GoFundMe page was created by a high school classmate of Ms. Sheatz Martinez to meet any current or unforeseen expenses of her husband, Orlando Martinez, and the boy.

Ms. Sheatz Martinez "was one of the most loving and caring people you could ever had the pleasure of knowing," wrote Corey Peterson, who established the page. "She was friendly to everyone, she loved life, andmost importantly she loved and cared about others. She lived her life tothe fullest and I always enjoyed catching up with her when I could because she was positive and optimistic."

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday at the McEntire-Weaver Funeral Home Inc. 504 East Penn Ave. in Knox, where a service will be held Saturday at 4 p.m.
