PITTSBURGH, PA - Overshadowing the Steelers 21-7 loss to the Cleveland Browns Thursday was an ugly incident in which Browns defensive end Myles Garrett tore off Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph's helmet and hit him in the head with it.

Garrett apologized after the game, admitting he "lost his cool" with just eight seconds remaining in the game. Rudolph called the play "bush league."

Here what others said about Garrett's attack:

Kevin Seifert, ESPN: "Myles Garrett committed the closest thing we've seen to an on-field crime in the modern era of pro football. Only one response will suffice. The NFL must issue the longest suspension for a single on-field act in its history, ending Garrett's 2019 season with six games remaining on the Browns' schedule and making clear to the world that what happened at FirstEnergy Stadium is one of the worst moments on the field in its history."

Younger & Associates: (Rudolph's agent): "There are many risks an NFL QB assumes with every snap taken on the field. Being hit on your uncovered head by a helmet being swung by a 275 DE is not one of them. Tonight could have had a catastrophic ending."

Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield: "It's inexcusable...rivalry or not, we can't do that."

Jeff Kerr, CBS Sports: "The fight between the Steelers and Browns was the culmination of a
physical night between both teams. The Steelers were on the receiving end of violent helmet-to-helmet hits throughout the course of the game. The first one occurred when JuJu Smith-Schuster was hit in the helmet by Browns cornerback Greedy Williams and safety Morgan Burnett after the initial helmet-to-helmet contact with Williams. Smith-Schuster left the game with a concussion."
