National Ice Cream Day 2023: Here Are Pittsburgh Places To Celebrate

Patch suggests places to go to sample some of Pittsburgh's best ice cream.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Every third Sunday in July is National Ice Cream Day in the country. The third Sunday of July this year occurs, well, on Sunday.

National Ice Cream Day was initiated by the late President Ronald Regan.

The fact that this event is upcoming leads Patch to ask: Who has Pittsburgh's best ice cream? We invite you to offer your own opinions, but here are a few contenders:

  • Brusters, Browns Hill Road, Squirrel Hill: Counter-serve chain where all of the ice cream selections are made fresh on-site every day.
  • Klavon's, Penn Avenue, Strip District: They even have a phone booth in there. 'Nuff said.
  • Dave & Andy's, Atwood Street, Oakland: They have been around since 1983. That should tell you something.
  • Al's Cone Zone, Route 885, Clairton: Don't just get the ice cream. They also serve incredible hot dogs.
