Nation's Pediatric Hospitals Ranked: See How UPMC Children's Hospital Fared
U.S. News & World Report evaluated children's hospitals across the country.
PITTSBURGH, PA — UPMC Children's Hospital in Lawrenceville has been named to the U.S. News & World Report Best Children's Hospitals Honor Roll for 226-2027. The distinction places it among the country's top 10 pediatric hospitals.
UPMC Children's is now tied for the No. 1 rank in Pennsylvania and tied for No. 1 in the Mid-Atlantic Region, also earning national rankings in all 11 pediatric specialties that are evaluated by U.S. News & World Report.
"Every day, our team comes to work with a singular purpose: to give children the healthiest, brightest future possible,” Diane Hupp, UPMC Children’s Hospital president, said in a release.

"Being named to the U.S. News Honor Roll and recognized among the nation's best pediatric hospitals is an incredible honor, but what makes me most proud is what this recognition represents, thousands of moments of expertise, compassion, innovation, and hope delivered to children and families when they need us most."
The annual U.S. News rankings evaluate children's hospitals based on clinical outcomes, patient safety, infection prevention, nursing quality, and other measures of excellence across pediatric specialties.

The annual rankings recognize hospitals that deliver exceptional outcomes and specialized care for children with complex and serious medical conditions.
UPMC Children's is nationally ranked in:

- Cardiology & Heart Surgery
- Diabetes & Endocrinology
- Gastroenterology & GI Surgery
- Neonatology
- Nephrology
- Neurology & Neurosurgery
- Orthopaedics
- Pediatric & Adolescent Behavioral Health
- Pulmonology & Lung Surgery
- Urology
Among its highest performing specialties, UPMC Children's ranked No. 3 nationally in diabetes and endocrinology, No. 4 in pulmonology and lung surgery, and No. 10 in nephrology. Five specialty programs improved their rankings this year, including cardiology, nephrology, orthopaedics, pulmonology, and urology.
