New Pittsburgh International Airport Terminal Plans Advance

PITTSBURGH, PA - Plans for a new Pittsburgh International Airport terminal are progressing, as the Allegheny County Airport Authority has selected a firm to provide architectural and engineering design work for the project.
The authority awarded an $8 million contract to Michael Baker International in the first stage to design and build a new parking garage, rental car facilities, parking lots and access roads for the new terminal.
Michael Baker will work in tandem with companies already hired to design the $1.1 billion terminal - Gensler and HDR in association with Luis Vidal + Architects.

According to the airport news service Blue Sky, the terminal’s design will be unveiled Feb. 20 at the annual State of the Airport event at the Westin Convention Center Hotel, Downtown. Groundbreaking on the massive project is expected to occur by the end of the year.
