New PNC Park Food Items Available As Pirates Make Home Debut

The Pirates are not just debuting rookie phenom Konnor Griffin in the PNC Park opener on Friday. They are unveiling many new menu items.

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Pirates play their first home game of the year at PNC Park on Friday, and the much ballyhooed event will occur with a bevy of new culinary treats.

The Pirates and concessionaire Aramark Sports + Entertainment are unveiling new food offerings that will be available this season.

Boricua Dog: A Puerto Rico-inspired hot dog with a Pittsburgh twist. This specialty hot dog offering with sofrito beef, Smallman Street Deli kraut, yellow mustard, American cheese, ketchup, braised onion, and potato sticks, served on a roll. Find it in Section 135.

Coop Puppy: The ballpark is offering sweet tea-brined chicken on a toasted roll topped with with ketchup-braised onion, ranch, and shredded lettuce. Available in Section 144.

Chipped Ham Fries: Oh wow. This involves chipped ham, sauce, cheddar sauce, and garlic butter on top of french fries. Find them in HPC Market, Section 118, if your Patch correspondent hasn't already consumed all of them.

Cold Pierogi Salad: This Pittsburgh-inspired delicacy comes with sour cream dressing, green onion, garlic powder ranch seasoning, onion powder, shredded cheddar, and diced bacon. You'll be able to find it in HPC Market, Section 118 if they are out of chipped ham fries.

Empanada: Get a chicken or a special vegan offering, both served with ajo crema, in Section 136.

Heavy Hitter Dog: A full foot-long hot dog with cornbread coating, yellow mustard, and pico de gallo, served in a special baseball bat boat. Find them in Section 146.

Kettle Nacho: How about kettle cooked ships with kielbasa, caramelized onion, pico de gallo, and sriracha ketchup. HPC Market, Section 118 is the place to be this year.

Nutella Beignets: A New Orleans favorite with a twist comes to PNC Park as fresh beignets are topped with caramel and whipped cream. Find them in Sections 144 & 146.

Smoked Turkey Leg with Mac & Cheese: Probably not advisable on a hot and humid summer day, this mammoth is served with smoked gouda mac and cheese, BBQ sauce, and coleslaw. Available in Section 140.
