On-Air WTAE-TV Reporter Hit By Car, Then Finishes Segment

Tori Yorgey, who starts at WTAE-TV in Pittsburgh in February, remarkably finished her report after an SUV sideswiped her.

HUNTINGTON, WV — A news reporter recently hired by WTAE-TV was struck by a car while on the air Wednesday but remarkably finished her report on a local water main break.

“Oh my God, I just got hit by a car, but I’m OK. I just got hit by a car, but I’m OK, Tim,” WSAZ-TV reporter Tori Yorgey told anchor Tim Irr an SUV grazed her.

“Well, that’s a first for you on TV, Tori,” Irr said as Yorgey, who starts at WTAE on Feb. 1, picked up her camera that also fell during the incident.

“That’s live TV for you. It’s all good,” Yorgey said. “I actually got hit by a car in college, too, just like that. I am so glad I’m OK.”

The report was interrupted by the driver, who stopped to see if Yorgey was OK and apologized. Yorgey said she was fine.
