News Anchor Royce Jones Issues First Comments Since Departing KDKA-TV

PITTSBURGH, PA — Royce Jones, a former reporter and anchor for KDKA-TV and sister station WPKD-TV, issued his first public comments since his abrupt departure from the stations last week.

Jones took to social media thanked people for their positive support of him online. However, he did not address the reason for leaving the stations. KDKA officials have not stated anything aside from a two-sentence email to station employees last week indicating he no longer was employed there.

"To all of my viewers and supporters, your support is felt," Jones stated in a Facebook post.

"Your commitment to holding me down through all things fills my spirit.You have brought me so much joy over the past four years. And I hope my impact here in Pittsburgh has inspired you, created a ripple of change and pushed forward diversity and inclusion in a lasting manner for a city that so desperately needs it.

"I know there is a lot of discourse online regarding my departure. All I will say is, I am very much looking forward to expanding my career in an even broader, creative and fulfilling capacity. I will be sure to include you every step of the way!"
