NFL Draft In Pittsburgh Begins Today: What To Know

PITTSBURGH, PA — The NFL Draft, which is expected to be the largest event in the city's history, begins today.

The event, which will be held outside of Acrisure Stadium and at Point State Park, is expected to attract as many as 600,000 people. It begins today and runs through Saturday.

Here's what you need to know:

It will be very difficult to get there by vehicle, as major road closures in and around the draft sites have occurred.

However, free public transit service is available to drop off people near the draft sites.

Even if you do not plan on going to the event, traffic is expected to be a mess with all of the road closures and the anticipated influx of visitors to the city.PennDOT has created a web page to help people navigate around the city.

Security will be extremely strict for the event. Here's what you can't bring to the event.

Here's what you can bring to the event:

Strollers - Strollers and baby carriages are permitted, however all bags and blankets must be removed and screened by x-ray and will be physically/visually inspected.

Cameras – Small cameras and binoculars will be permitted. Professional grade camera and recording equipment will only be permitted for properly Draft Credentialed media

Reusable Water Bottles – Fans will be allowed to enter with an empty, reusable water bottle for free water filling when inside the perimeter.

The NFL Draft Experience is open on the following dates and times:

• April 23: 12p.m.—10 p.m.

• April 24: 12p p.m.—10 p.m.
• April 25: 9 a.m.-6 p.m.

Outside food or beverages are not permitted inside the NFL Draft campus. Food and beverage will be available for purchase within the concession areas around the Draft site. For fans with medical dietary restrictions, outside food is admissible.

The weather for tonight's first round of the NFL Draft is expected to be pleasant. On Friday, there will be a 30 percent chance of showers and storms. For the draft's conclusion on Saturday, there is an 80 percent chance of showers.
