NFL Team Owner Arrested Near Pittsburgh
The primary owner of an NFL team was taken into custody and criminally charged in a small town near Pittsburgh.
PITTSBURGH, PA — The owner of an NFL team was arrested Sunday near Pittsburgh and has pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor criminal charges.
Court records indicate that San Francisco 49ers owner John "Jed" York was arrested in East Palestine, Ohio, initially on a charge of engaging in prostitution, KGO-TV in San Francisco reported. East Palestine is about 50 miles northeast of Pittsburgh just over the Pennsylvania-Ohio border.
According to the New York Post, York was taken into custody at an East Palestine trailer park by an agent of the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force.

The prostitution charge was amended to disorderly conduct Monday after York pleaded no contest to that charge and a charge of possessing criminal tools.
The Post reported York was sentenced to one day in jail, though he was given credit for time served. He also was fined $1,150.

York originally is from Youngstown, which is about 20 miles north of East Palestine.
York has been the 49ers' CEO since 2008, and acquired enough of his mother's shares in the team to become its principal owner in 2024.
