PITTSBURGH, PA — Pennsylvania's first museum dedicated to outer space will send visitors on simulated lunar missions designed to propel youths to pursue space-related careers in medicine, business, law, policy and the humanities.

Moonshot Museum will open Oct. 15 in the city's North Side. The museum's management say it's the world's first museum to focus on career readiness for the contemporary space industry.

Partnered with Pittsburgh-based space robotics company Astrobotic, the museum will feature a glass wall through which visitors will watch real lunar landers being built and readied to fly to the moon.

“The Moonshot Museum was designed for the community to literally step into the world of the space industry," said John Thornton, Astrobotic CEO and the museum's founding board member. "We want young people to see themselves in our work, meet the real people building spacecraft, and discover that there’s a place for them in space."

Moonshot Museum will be open to the public Wednesdays through Sundays. Admission will be $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 3-17.
