Parents Charged After 13-Year-Old Son Shoots And Kills Brother

The parents of a teen who shot his 5-year-old sibling in the face left a loaded handgun unsecured, police said.

PENN HILLS, PA — The parents of the teenager accused of shooting and killing his brother last month are facing criminal charges. Thomas Wolfe, 35, and Sara Gerwig, 37, are charged with four counts of endangering the welfare of children, according to court documents.

The 13-year-old faces homicide and gun charges in connection with the death of Connor Wolfe, 5, inside the family's home on Nov. 22.

According to court documents, the 13-year-old became angry when his three younger siblings ignored his instruction to stop jumping on a bed in their Prescott Drive residence. The teen reached for his father's handgun, which was loaded and had been left unsecured, and shot Connor in the face.
