Penn Hills Bar Where 2 Were Fatally Shot Lacked Liquor License

Police said on Monday the lounge where two people died and seven others were wounded on Sunday had no liquor license.

PENN HILLS, PA — The bar where a man and woman were shot to death and seven people were wounded early Sunday was operating without a liquor license, Allegheny County police said on Monday.

Investigators will consult with the county District Attorney’s office to determine if any further action is necessary, police added.

The shooting occurred at around 3 a.m. Sunday at the Ballers Hookah Lounge and Cigar Bar on the 3500 block of Laketon Road. Killed were Nathaniel Smiley, 44, of Pittsburgh and Stephanie Stuart, 28, of McKeesport.

Of the seven others shot during the altercation: A man and a woman remain hospitalized but are expected to survive. The other five have been released from the hospital.
