PennDOT Bans Some Vehicles From Highways Due To Winter Storm
PennDOT has temporarily banned some vehicles from several major arteries due to the severity of the winter storm.

PITTSBURGH, PA — PennDOT is restricting certain vehicles on several major arteries in the Pittsburgh area due to the expected severity of the winter storm.
The restrictions will be in effect on the following roads:
Allegheny County

· Interstates 79, 376 (Parkways East and West), 279 (Parkway North), and 579
· Route 28

Beaver County
· Interstate 376 (Beaver Valley Expressway)
Lawrence County
· Interstates 79 and 376
The following vehicles are not permitted on those roads:
· Tractors without trailers;
· Tractors towing unloaded or lightly loaded enclosed trailers, open trailers or tank trailers;
· Tractors towing unloaded or lightly loaded tandem trailers;
· Enclosed cargo delivery trucks that meet the definition of a CMV;
· Passenger vehicles (cars, SUVs, pickup trucks, etc.) towing trailers;
· Recreational vehicles/motor homes;
· School buses, commercial buses and motor coaches; and
· Motorcycles.
The purpose of the restrictions is to help ensure the interstates remain open during the most challenging conditions of the winter storm. They will be lifted when conditions improve.
