Pirates, Brewers Swap Pitchers
The Bucs shift to sell mode by trading away one of their many ineffective starting pitchers.

PITTSBURGH, PA - The Milwaukee Brewers must be desperate for pitching, because they traded for one of the Pirates' most least-effective starters Monday. The Brewers acquired right-hander Jordan Lyles in exchange for minor league right-handed pitcher Cody Ponce.
Lyles had a record of 5-7 with a 5.26 ERA in 17 starts with the Pirates this season.
Ponce, 25, was Milwaukee’s second round selection in the 2015 draft. He has gone 1-3 with one save, 44 strikeouts and a 3.29 ERA in 27 relief appearances with AA Biloxi this season.

A 2017 Carolina League mid-season All-Star, Ponce won a career-high 10 games during the 2017 campaign while pitching with the Carolina Mudcats and Biloxi. In his minor league career, Ponce
has produced a 22-27 record, four saves and a 3.72 ERA.
With the Pirates out of contention and in selling mode, more trades are expected before the trade deadline Wednesday.
