Pirates Fans Irked When PNC Park Runs Out Of Hot Dog Buns

The Pirates' first promotional night of the season was not a hit with those attending the game.

PITTSBURGH, PA - It was only the second home game of the season for the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday, but PNC Park's food vendor somehow ran out of hot dog buns.

During the first “Buc Night” promotion of the year, where admission and certain food items such as hot dogs were discounted to $1, there were enough franks to go around - but not enough buns to hold them.

The Pirates and food vendor Aramark offered no explanation for the gaffe on Thursday, but fans were plenty riled up. Many vented at team owner Bob Nutting, who has a reputation as stingy because the Pirates have had one of the lowest payrolls in baseball since he bought the team.
