Pirates Sign Player To Team-Record Richest Contract
The Pirates have made team history by signing a player to a contract worth tens of millions of dollars more than any other player has had.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Baseball history in Pittsburgh was made on Wednesday, as the Pirates gave baseball's top prospect the richest contract ever for the team - by far.
The team announced that it has signed rookie shortstop Konnor Griffin to a nine-year deal that will keep him a Pirate through the 2034 season.
"Signing Konnor is a meaningful commitment to this team, this city and our fans," Pirates owner Bob Nutting said in a statement.

Terms of the contract were not announced, but multiple news outlets reported the deal is worth $140 million.
Previously, the largest contact in team history belonged to outfielder Bryan Reynolds, who signed a $106 million deal in 2023.
