Pirates' Vazquez Admitted Encounter With 13-Year-Old: Police

PITTSBURGH, PA - Pirates reliever Felipe Vazquez admitted to police he attempted to have sex with a 13-year-old girl in 2017, sent her nude photos and videos of himself and remained in contact with her until August. Those bombshell revelations were in a criminal complaint released Wednesday by Pennsylvania State Police.

Vazquez was arrested Tuesday in his Strip District apartment and charged with multiple felonies related to his relationship with the girl, who is now 15. In Pennsylvania, the charges include statutory sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor, corruption of a minor and indecent assault; in Florida, where the girl now lives,he has been charged with one count of computer pornography - solicitation of a child and one count of providing obscene material to minors.

According to police, Vazquez met the girl at PNC Park and they started corresponding via social media and text messages. Vazquez told police he exchanged nude photos and videos with the girl and visited her at her residence in Scottdale, Westmoreland County.

The criminal complaint states that Vazquez told police the two of them attempted to have sex but he said he had to leave because he had a game that night. The two continued to exchange text messages until the girl's mother found photos on the girl's phone allegedly sent by Vazquez and notified police.

Major League Baseball placed Vazquez on administrative leave after his arrest.
