Pittsburgh Is 2021 Best City For Football Fans: Study

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Steelers had a disappointing finish to their season, but that hasn't dampened the spirit of their fans. A study by the financial data site WalletHub has concluded that Pittsburgh has the best football fans in the nation.

With Super Bowl LV occurring Sunday between the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, WalletHub analyzed more than 240 cities with at least one college or professional football team based on 21 key factors. Here's how Pittsburgh fared in some of them:

• 1st: Number of NFL championship wins.

• 1st: NFL fan engagement.

• 4th: NFL stadium capacity.

• 7th: Performance level of NFL team.

• 22nd: Average ticket price for an NFL game.

• 25th: NFL attendance.

Ranking behind Pittsburgh in the top 10:

• Dallas.

• Boston.

• New York.

• Miami.

• New Orleans.

• Los Angeles.

• Indianapolis.

• San Francisco.

• Denver.

To determine the rankings, WalletHub used data from the U.S. Census Bureau, Team Marketing Report, ESPN, NCAA, Pro Football Hall of Fame, Sports Reference, Forbes, Sports Analytics Research from Mike Lewis and each team’s website and social media accounts.
