Pittsburgh Airport Auction: Cars, Watches, Jewelry & More Avialable

Pittsburgh International Airport on Saturday will auction off thousands of unclaimed items left behind by travelers.

FINDLAY TOWNSHIP, PA —An airport might seem like an unusual place to pick up golf clubs, car seats, cameras, game systems and a rice maker.

But those are among the 8,000 items that can be purchased Saturday at Pittsburgh International Airport during the Allegheny County Airport Authority's annual auction. Each year, the authority auctions items left behind by travelers that are not picked up at the airport's lost and found after 30 days.

The auction begins at 10 a.m., but doors will open at 8:30 a.m. at the Heavy Equipment Building on Cargo Road. Auctioneer Joe R. Pyle will conduct the proceedings. Food trucks The Kabob Mob and Divine Swine will sell breakfast and lunch foods at the event.

According to Blue Sky News, the airport's online news site, among the more unusual items that can be bid on this year include:

  • Extreme sports helmets with GoPro cameras.
  • A security surveillance camera.
  • A baker's rolling pin and apron.
  • Flippers and goggles.

Need a car? The airport will auction off 11 of them, including a Sonata, two Honda Civics and a Nissan Ultima.

Looking from some jewelry? The airport has nearly 350 bracelets, rings and necklaces for sale.

Proceeds from personal items left behind go to the ACAA Charitable Foundation, which helps support the airport’s Art in the Airport program, aviation scholarships and workforce development. Last year, the auction raised more than $75,000 for the foundation.
