FINDLAY TOWNSHIP, PA — Pittsburgh International Airport on Tuesday debuted a new Kids Play Area in an Airside Terminal space that is about 30 percent larger and has more features for young ones than the former Kidsport play area.

According to Blue Sky News, the Allegheny County Airport Authority's news website, the new space includes the SPUN Chair, which enables kids to twirl around, to the WillyGoat Climbing Mound. Other features include a "runway rug" that allows kids to take off on a carpeted takeoff simulation.

Additionally, the Pittsburgh Children's Museum helped design two custom pieces for the Kids Play space: aviation-themed wallpaper and an interactive art installation featuring the moon and stars.

The space also contains features parents can appreciate.

“Part of universal access is about how you take care of caregivers and make sure that they get what they need; that’s so difficult for parents traveling with kids,” Siri Betts-Sonstegard, the airport's senior vice president of experience and design, told Blue Sky News.
