Pittsburgh Among First U.S. Cities To Get New McDonald's Burgers

PITTSBURGH, PA — Pittsburgh is among the first cities in the nation to begin sampling what McDonald's contends are subtle but noticeable improvements to the Big Mac, McDouble, classic cheeseburger and double cheeseburger.

The rollout of the new burgers has begun here and several select cities and they will be implemented in all McDonald's restaurants in 2024.

Here's what the changes entail:

• Softer buns freshly toasted to a golden brown.
• A change in the cheese melting process to make it more savory.
• Juicier, caramelized flavor from adding white onions to the patties while they’re still on the grill.
• Additional special sauce for the Big Mac.

“We found that small changes, like tweaking our process to get hotter, meltier cheese and adjusting our grill settings for a better sear, added up to a big difference in making our burgers more flavorful than ever," Chad Schafer, senior director of culinary innovation of McDonald's USA, said in a new release.

Customers still can customize their orders to match their personal taste preferences.
