Pittsburgh Among Nation's Best Cities In Which To Live: Study

A new report ranks Pittsburgh as the best place to live in Pennsylvania. Find out here how highly the city was rated nationally.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Pittsburgh might not be the biggest city in the United States, but a new study asserts that it's one of the best. In the Economist Intelligence Unit's Global Livability Index 2024, which ranked its top 10 cities to reside, Pittsburgh was rated the nation's third best, per CNBC.

Honolulu topped the national list.

The EIU report considered stability, health care, culture and environment, education and infrastructure to determine its national ranking. International cities were examined for their livability, CNBC reported.

Each city could gain a maximum of 100 points in the study. It's unknown is unknown how many points Pittsburgh received.

According to CNBC, Honolulu may be the best in the U.S., but Vienna, Austria was regarded as the world's best place to live.

Smaller cities such as Pittsburgh outperformed much larger metropolitan areas this year. New York and Los Angeles, for example, were ranked 70th and 58th, respectively.

  3. Pittsburgh
  4. Seattle, Washington
  5. Washington D.C.
  6. Chicago, Illinois
  7. Boston, Massachusetts
  8. Miami, Florida
  9. San Francisco, California
  10. Minneapolis, Minnesota
