Pittsburgh-Area Bar Owner Shot To Death Outside Of Tavern

The shocking shooting of the owner of a well-known Pittsburgh-area tavern reverberated throughout the region Thursday.

LOWER BURRELL, PA — The owner of Mogie's Irish Pub was shot and killed outside of the bar Thursday morning.

David Magill was pronounced dead at Allegheny Valley Hospital in Harrison after the shooting, Triblive reported. The suspected shooter is in custody but has not yet been identified by the Westmoreland County District Attorney's Office.

It's unclear if the death occurred during a robbery attempt.

Tributes to Magill already have begun pouring in on social media.

"Never ever did we think we’d have a friend, a selfless and extremely generous friend - both with his time and treasure- be murdered in broad daylight," Amy Fassett McIllwain wrote on Facebook.
