Pittsburgh-Area Cinemark Theaters Announce Reopening Dates

PITTSBURGH, PA — Cinemark will begin reopening its Pittsburgh-area theaters next month, the theater chain announced Wednesday. Cinemark theaters have been closed since March because of the coronavirus outbreak.

On July 3, Cinemark multiplexes in Robinson and McCandless will open. The Monroeville Mall and Beaver County locations will open on July 10.

The company announced last month that the Cinemark at Pittsburgh Mills will be closing permanently.

Cinemark plans to sanitize concession stands, kitchens, restaurants and bars every 30 minutes. Restrooms will be extensively disinfected every morning and sanitized every 30 minutes during operating hours.

Auditoriums will be extensively disinfected daily and seats will be sanitized before every movie. Hand sanitizers and seat wipes will be available at the box office and active concessions stands and seat wipe dispensers will be centrally located in hallways outside the auditoriums.

The theaters will open with limited seating capacity and staggered showtimes. When tickets are purchased, Cinemark will automatically block the seats adjacent to your party.

Cinemark also will stagger showtimes to allow more time for people to exit and prevent overcrowding in restrooms, halls and lobbies. Contactless ticketing also will be available.
