Pittsburgh Area Gets 2nd New Mexican Restaurant This Week

If you enjoy Mexican fare, this is turning out to be a very good week for you.

BALDWIN, PA — After just a year in business, the owners of La Calera Mexican Bar & Grill in McMurray have expanded to Baldwin. The new location opened Tuesday on Clairton Boulevard.

According to the restaurant's website, among the favorite dishes are the burrito la Calera, stuffed with steak, chicken, and shrimp and topped with green salsa and cheese; specialty burritos; alambres and papas locas.

In addition to standard Mexican fare, La Calera also offers Central American items such as carne asada, Honduran-style; pupusas, the national dish of El Salvador; and Nicaragua's buñuelos dessert.

La Calera is the second new Mexican restaurant in the Pittsburgh area to open this week. Tepache Mexican Kitchen & Bar also opened its second Pittsburgh-area location on Tuesday, taking over the space once occupied by Atria's in O'Hara Township.
