Pittsburgh-Area Grocery Store Slapped With Consumer Alert

McKEESPORT, PA — Warning: This will gross you out.

The Allegheny County Health Department has issued a consumer alert for the Shop 'n Save on Fifth Avenue in McKeesport for numerous health violations.

Where shall we start? Perhaps with the evidence of active rodent infestation.

Chewed and gnawed products were accompanied by fresh droppings. Twenty different items were found to have been eaten, including tortillas, cookies, nuts, and bread. Some packaging had been entirely eaten and only had droppings left inside.

Let's move to the bread section, shall we? Fresh droppings and rodent urine were found.

At least five aisles had droppings on multiple shelves.

OK, now we'll move to the meat department and deli, where droppings also were found.

Additionally, freshly dead rodents were found inside three boxes with sticky traps.

Cookies were found covered with rodent urine.
