Pittsburgh-Area High School Student Detained After Alleged Threat

The incident occurred after a neighboring school district canceled classes because of a potential threat.

PITTSBURGH, PA - A student at Gateway High School in Monroeville was detained Friday after making a terroristic threat on social media, superintendent William Short said in a letter to parents.

Students and staff are not at risk, he said.

Short stated in the letter. “The administration and school police detained the student responsible for the threat,” Short stated in the letter. “Monroeville police were summoned and the student was removed from the building.”
